Exploring the market of Automotive dealers

A multi-national automobile insurance company wanted to conduct research to explore their way forward strategy in Mexico and Japan and identify opportunities to better offer insurance products to end customers while buying a new car.

OUR APPROACH

We conducted quantitative research in Japan and Mexico among decision makers in automotive dealerships to understand their current approach to selling insurance products when selling cars at their dealership. This was followed by some in-depth interviews to specifically focus on dealerships that were interested in speaking to new insurance providers about their product portfolio.

THE INSIGHT

Dealers have a plethora of insurance options to choose from; with multitude of additional services that they provide as add ons. There are specific pain points and gaps in the industry that they look for support on, especially in Mexico. Electric Vehicles’ insurance is one such area and needs more research to help make the product viable for customers.

Strategies and ‘go to market’ approaches were developed as a result of this research to better position the existing product portfolio amongst the biggest customer group for the insurance provider.
